CallHarbor’s unified communications make it easy for you to work from anywhere. The not-so-easy part is staying focused and on task while working from somewhere other than your office. Don’t worry, CallHarbor is here for you, offering these great tips and tricks to help you successfully work from anywhere.

Keep an “Office Feel”

Simply being in the office can turn your brain from relax mode to work mode. When you’re at home, at a coffee shop, or at an airport, your brain probably is having a harder time getting into work mode. Try to set up or create a space with an office feel to it to get your brain pumping. Instead of laying in bed on your laptop, try sitting at the kitchen table, or your desk. Having a designated area will help you to distinguish your work life from your home life. It’s easy to let them creep into each other when you’re not into the office, but having your defined space will help a lot.

Utilize a To-Do List

Personally, I always have a written out To-Do List handy, because I am a very visual person. For many people, though, they know what they have to do from being in the office, or having co-workers visit their cubicle and give them reminders. Having a written out list will help you stay organized and stay on task. Looking at your list and being able to visually plan out everything you need to get done during your workday will help you successfully not fall behind.

Put on a Great Playlist

It will be tempting to stream your favorite Netflix show from your phone or TV while working outside of the office, but having that visual distraction will keep you sidetracked. Instead, opt for a great playlist that complements your work style. If you don’t have some good tunes downloaded, you can easily slide over to a streaming service such as Spotify, Soundcloud, or even Youtube, and simply type in “Chill Playlist,” “Study Tunes,” or things along that line. You know you best, so whatever will help you stay tuned in and focused is what you should go for! Having some good jams playing will also help you to minimize the distracting sounds around you, if you have someone else in the house with you, or you’re in a busy area.

Eat Healthy Meals and Snacks

When you are at home, it’s easy to graze on snacks all day. When you’re on the move, it’s easy to grab some fast food instead of bringing a lunch with you. Although it may seem tempting, it is in your best interest to go for the healthier food and snacks. Studies show that healthier eaters are more productive. The WHO reports that “adequate nutrition can raise your productivity levels by 20 percent on average.” You’ll be better able to focus and accomplish tasks when you’ve eaten properly. Eating healthier can also improve your mood, and help you avoid that post-meal sluggish feel.

Keep Communication Lines Open

With CallHarbor’s unified communications and full call center functionality, you are able to access your work phone line from your cell, on the app, or from the web softphone – keeping your communication lines open from anywhere. Without being in the office and being able to simply pop over to a coworker’s desk to ask a question, or answer your desk phone to talk to a client, you can feel like you are missing out on a lot of valuable communication. Being able to keep your lines open will make it feel like you are still in the office, and offer the same productivity levels.
